Each human being has a physical body, a brain which controls the body and a conscious mind. The mind provides awareness of our self and our surroundings. The thoughts of the conscious mind constitute the soul. The body does not live on after death. The brain does not function after death. But, the human soul is believed by many to survive death. This has not yet been proved by living man. But, it is a very useful concept to provide a framework for our purpose and essential function in life.
