Capitalism is poorly understood
Capitalism is poorly understood. This is a problem.
We have the twin problems of under-employment and excessive national debt and we can not reach consensus on what actions to take to solve these problems. I submit that this is a problem of the first magnitude.
That which we do not understand, we must study.
In a republic, we elect people to make decisions for the people. Our representatives have not reached consensus on a solution to these problems.
They can bring together recognized experts on the economy to aid them in forming a solution to these problems. This has not happened.
It is not clear that the experts have reached a consensus on a solution to these problems.
Then, this is a problem worthy of a national effort to research, debate and bring to resolution with all deliberate speed.
I call upon Congress to begin this effort.
